Our Ministry Programs

Worship

The worship service at Trinity Lutheran Church is traditional and liturgical.  That simply means that we follow a traditional format that includes confession, Bible readings, prayers, singing and Holy Communion...and of course, a sermon and a children's sermon.  All are welcome here.  The dress code is casual or dressed up at both the 8:30 and 11:00 services.  We invite you to worship with us.

Youth

Our Youth are involved in Sunday school, pancake suppers, Trunk or Treat, Youth Group once a month and other service activities.  They are an active part of the worship service as they serve as lectors, acolytes, ushers, and taking over the regular service once a year.  Even though we are currently without a youth director, we will be actively searching as the year progresses.

Adult Education

Herb Burhenn's Class - meets in the Paul George room and is now studying texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls

Barbara Weinhold’s Daily Discipleship class – meets in the Library and is a study of the Gospel lesson for the day.  They ask the question "What is God telling us in these lessons about our lives today?"

Gary Hart's class will continue studying the Acts of the Apostles in the conference room.

Social Missions

Trinity contributes to many ministries, including our missionary David Brondos in Mexico City, our own food pantry, Volunteers in Medicine, Northside Neighborhood House, Community Kitchen, and The Next Door Re-entry Prison Ministry. The church is also assisting in raising funds for the families of the 212th transport unit stationed in Afghanistan.

Women's Ministries

Women of the ELCA sponsor the Martha Circle on 3rd Tuesdays, a Book Club on 2nd Thursdays, and Ladies Nite Out, also on 2nd Thursdays.  The Women of the ELCA are a part of the churchwide organization, and also participate in Annual Synod and national conventions.

Other women's groups in the church are Anne's Girls, who meet every Tuesday at 10:00 am for knitting, crocheting, and other crafts.  Anne's Girls are very active in the church and donate blankets for baptisms, prayer shawls, hats for hospitals, and many other tasks that they undertake when called upon.

OWLS

Older, Wiser, Lutherans meet every first Tuesday at 10:30.  Our parish nurse, Carol Burhenn, is available most of these days for blood pressure checks and answering health questions that may come up.  The OWLS meetings consist of Bible study, usually led by Pastor Schimmer, sometimes led by Pastor Sims or Pastor Sharron, lunch, and a program.
